
Tom Gunderson
In 2003 Tom went to Minneapolis to be the lead manager for the $1.3+ billion First American Fund Growth Stock portfolio, now a part of Nuveen Investments.) Tom became the leader of the growth stock team managing large-capitalization and mid-capitalization company strategies and produced returns that significantly exceeded benchmarks returns.
Seeking to get closer to individual clients to see the positive impact he could have on their lives, Tom joined Lowry Hill as an investment partner. Lowry Hill was a wealth management firm serving $10+ million clients and was wholly owned by Wells Fargo. In addition to leading their $800 million flagship Growth Equity strategy, he worked with several clients and families to meet their financial goals. Later Lowy Hill merged with another Wells Fargo division to form Abbot Downing where Tom was a Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Investments helping oversee $31 billion of assets.
Tom has served as an investment strategist and asset allocator for over 20 years. This role involves looking across several asset classes to identify the best asset classes and the best mix of assets to form optimal investment portfolios. He was an active member of the asset allocation and investment strategy committees at Abbot Downing and was a Senior Investment Strategist at Oxford Financial Group and its $13 billion of assets under management.
Tom is President and Chief Investment Officer of Nason Hill Wealth Management. He is experienced working with clients of all types; individuals, families, multi-generational families as well as endowments and foundations.
Tom earned a BA in economics from St. Olaf College and an MBA in finance from the University of Michigan. Tom is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is currently an active member of the investment committee that manages the endowment for the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities.
Tom is driven, driven to get the most he can for his clients. His drive and persistence led to consistent out-performance in the highly-competitive institutional investment arena. It also led him to NCAA All-American honors in swimming at St. Olaf and to multiple podium finishes at cycling races across the upper Midwest in 2017.
